Another Knitting Project

May 17th, 2008

This is another knitting project I’m working on.  It’s a washcloth made from cotton yarn using purl, knitting and slip stitches.  I’ve only been knitting since January 2008, I’m very pleased with these results.  I did make one mistake down near the bottom side.  I think I lost a stitch some how or another.  Anyway, I think it will be fine.  I can’t wait to finish it but it sure takes a lot of time.

My First Loom Knitted Item

May 11th, 2008

I finally finished my first loom knitted item. This is a simple wash cloth that I can either use in the kitchen or bath. It’s small but I was basically testing the loom and my skills. I am pleased with the way it turned out. I used 2 strands of a colorful 100% cotton yarn.

The pattern called for the 24 peg loom (the small blue one) but I decided to use only 12 of the pegs. Now I will make the larger one.

This is a 12″ X 16″ pillow I made and have had on my home decor Etsy store. I sold it yesterday and shipped out today. I dreamed up this design last year and spent lots of time working on it. I think it turned out really cute. I sold it for $27.00 plus shipping. I have others at my Etsy stores, Ellen’s Designs.

SocialSpark is Alive!!!!

May 6th, 2008

A new social network, SocialSpark has now opened and is live. This network connects advertisers and bloggers to one another allowing each to benefit from each other’s assistance. SocialSpark is IZEA’s new social media platform.

Bloggers can write reviews for advertiser’s products and make money. Generating traffic is a must for all blogs and this network is the perfect tool to make it happen. Promoting your blog is easily done in this environment. Making friends through common interest is a daily occurrence once your profile is activated and your blog is listed.

Advertisers scan different profiles and blogs searching for the perfect content to advertise their product. Also advertisers and bloggers can connect and mutually decide on a specific ad.

I’ve only been registered with Social Spark for several weeks now at All In A Day. I’ve met and made many new friends and my group is growing daily. I’m on a waiting list to write reviews so I’m anxiously waiting for that opportunity. What I like most about this platform is the friendly, helpful people. Each day I get friendship requests from other bloggers. Also there appears to be many opportunities to increase my blog traffic as well as writing various reviews.

I’m Stumped with the Felted Purse

May 4th, 2008

I’ve finished the bottom of the felted purse that I posted about recently. Today I was trying to proceed and knit up the edges per the instruction. But for the life of me I can’t figure out how to knit up each edge and leave the previous knitted stitches on the needles. I worked on it for about 2 hrs this morning and now I’m stumped. But what I will do is think about it more and hopefully someone will read this, know how to do it and leave me some great instructions. Otherwise I will either figure it out myself and or email the pattern maker.

You can see the pattern at a previous post.

Word Press Themes

April 28th, 2008

Over the weekend I finally settled on a theme I liked. I had a problem with some tags that were missing in the header file so that I could install the PPP code. The tag was actually missing but I was able to get some valuable assistance from a fellow blogger, Michael Aulia. For some reason though I still can’t get the file to accept the PPP code. So, until I can get it resolved I keep changing the theme to find the one I want.

If any regular readers to my blog think your eyes are playing tricks with you when you visit my blog, your eyes are fine….my blog changes with the temperature in Dallas!!!! :)

New Domain and Lovin’ It

April 26th, 2008

I finally got my sewing/craft blog domain transferred from blogspot.  So far I love it!!! I wanted to bring my old header with me but I have no idea how to transfer it over.  Also I don’t think it will match this page.  I’ve been looking for a free WP theme that would fit well with my cute header I had on the other blog but so far I haven’t found it.  Also there are some widgets I need to move over.  So i’m still tweaking it as I go.

Hope you enjoy this one.  To me it’s just okay.  I’m looking for a sewing/knitting/craft theme with pink/brown colors and of course I want it free.  I’ve looked at about 300 WP themes but so far I haven’t found one.  This will just have to do until I find it.

Newest Knitting Project

April 26th, 2008

This is my newest knitting project. I know I must be nuts as I now have 4 projects going. This beautiful bag was designed by Lisa at PlainJaneCreations. I recently purchased her pattern at her Etsy store. I have only knitted the bottom so far. It will be a lengthy process as most knitting is. But I know when I finish it will be beautiful.

So far this is the progress I’ve made AND I’m learning to use circular needles. Actually I’m enjoying the difference between straight needles and these circular ones. Since this is my first felted bag, I’m using some wool yarn I already had. It’s a variegated denim and white.

Have you knitted and felted anything? Do you use circular needles and how do you like them?

New Blog Domain

If you are reading this blog and notice that much of the info on the side bars makes no sense it’s because this site is being update and under construction.  I should have it tweaked in several days.

Thanks for stopping by.

Circular Knitting Needles

April 12th, 2008

I’m going to purchase some circular knitting needles soon. I recently purchased a pattern for a felted knitting pattern and part of the requirements are that I use circular knitting needles. I am researching these now and I don’t know what kind to get. I know the size I need but I mean the type of material that is the best.

Kathy, the lady that I recently made the knitting bag for, has just learned to knit and she is recommending Skacel addi Turbo circular knitting needles. They are quite expensive ($15.00) but all the knitting stores that I visit- Joann Fabric, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Walmart - all have the inexpensive ones. Kathy says that she is very pleased with the ones she has, the cord in the needles is very flexible and doesn’t twist. I did see some $12.00 needles in Michaels yesterday.

But now I’ve decided to just ask my readers of this blog. What kind/brand of circular needles to you use and recommend and what is the price?
